I CANNOT STAY AT HOME

Image
I cannot stay at home For I am the village news reporter I hop from house to house  Collecting news and dishing out more  If they have not heard it from me Then it is no news And while at it I save a meal I cannot stay at home! I cannot stay at home For I was so close to finding out The identity of the mysterious man  That has dropped my neighbour's wife twice Yet her husband is in the barracks  I cannot condone unfaithfulness  I cannot stay at home! I cannot stay at home Yet I had discovered Muriu's daughter is pregnant  The girl at the university  The village role model The apple of her father's eye If I stay at home She might come out with a flat tummy  After this ordeal is over I cannot stay at home afande! I cannot stay at home For I have been seeing baba Ciru's car in the park It is widely known he is rarely home Since he got hooked up with the 'ho' in town. I have been crouching behind their house at night  Trying to detect...

Home made hand sanitizer

Image
Coronaviruses like COVID-19 spread through human contact, and one of the most effective ways to curb its spread is by washing your hands. Hand sanitizer is just as effective at killing bacteria and viruses, and it's easier to use when you're out and about. A hand sanitizer is your best defense against viruses when you're out running errands and can't get to a sink to wash your hands. The best way to stay protected is to wash your hands for 20 seconds after returning from a public place. As a general rule, you should avoid touching your nose, eyes, or mouth with unwashed hands. If you're already using a hand sanitizer, make sure it has at least 60% alcohol. There are some hand sanitizers that are alcohol-free, and these won't be as effective in killing bacteria and viruses. The correct way of using a hand sanitizer is to apply it liberally to your hands and rub them together until the gel effervesces. Demand for hand sanitizers has shot through the roo...

ARE YOU CLEANING YOUR PHONES!

Image
Someone with flu or COVID-19 touches a doorknob or counter. You come along and touch the doorknob or counter. Then you check your phone. Hours later, you’ve washed your hands, but the virus is still alive on your phone.  If you’re a smartphone owner, then with the new corona virus outbreak requires one to adapt some new habits.  1. Wash your hands before you touch your phone. C heck your phone less and wash your hands more. This minor lifestyle change entirely bypasses the risk of accidentally transmitting a virus to yourself via your phone. 2. Get a phone case.  A washable case that surrounds your phone makes it easy to clean: just toss it in the sink with your dishes once or twice a day, and wash. 3. Clean your phone.  wiping the hard surfaces of a phone with 70% isopropyl alcohol is fine, as long as no moisture gets into any openings, keys, or charging ports.  use only soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use paper towels, which can sc...

Lost Angels

Image
Losing a child is like losing your soul you may put on a front for the world but inside you are dying. No matter the age there is no feet too small to leave an imprint in this world. Losing them makes your heart break into pieces that you never knew existed. The hardest thing that i have ever heard is that my baby is gone and the hardest part is having to live everyday with the memory of my little angels. On that fateful day Dec 07 2016 i woke up with contractions not knowing what to do to stop them since i was 28 weeks and had 12 more weeks to go. Fear could clearly be seen on my face as my husband drove me to Avenue hospital Kisumu. At that moment all i could think of was my three little baby that i was going to meet in few hours time. I was happy but at the same time scared for their time was not yet. As we got closer to the hospital so did my anxiety increase and on arrival i was swiftly taken for tests and preparation of a c-section. After the operation that is when my hear...

Yey! am pregnant!

Image
After waiting for one year i was finally pregnant.I believe this is one of the best news if one was planning for it. Mid last year i discovered that i was pregnant and expecting triplets. Naturally you would expect me to be happy and over the moon but that was not the case. The first question was how was i going to take care of the three and would i be able to carry them to at least 36 weeks considering the fact that i have a petite body and i had a previous scar? This went on till week 12.  The nausia was on another level with no appetite and the only food that i ate was an omelette and Ugali. Then i came across the multiple mums group , i got to learn so many things and realised that i wasn't alone and that is how i started embracing my unborn babies. In this group there were ladies with twins, triplets and even quadruplets some even had several sets of multiples yet they had a way of coping. Different changes started to appear from rashes to loosing weight and bulging stom...

"Terrible 2s" are you familiar with this?

Image
So i sit and wonder why my sweet two year old daughter is becoming difficult to handle. One minute we are laughing and before we even blink her mood is totally changed and it makes me almost loose my patience in the process of trying to understand what is happening. That is when i came across the word terrible 2s. This is a stage characterized by mood changes, temper tantrums and use of the word "no."The terrible twos typically occurs when toddlers begin to struggle between their reliance on adults and their desire for independence. during this stage the 2-year-olds undergo major motor, intellectual, social and emotional changes. What leads to frustration and misbehavior — in other words, the terrible twos is the fact that their vocabulary is growing and aren't able to clearly communicate their needs or control their feelings. One of the advice i found useful from www.mayoclinic.org is to Try to stay calm if your child is in the midst of the terrible twos and als...
